My name is Jehan Stefan.
(pronounce Jean Stéphane or simply JS 😉 )
I am a French music arranger, orchestrator and teacher / lecturer born and raised in Paris.
I have dedicated my Life to the study of Modern Harmony, Orchestration, Classical Music, Jazz and Film Music to help other musicians fulfilling their projects on time.
So far, I’ve had the pleasure to work on more than 150 projects for concert stage, tv, video games, theme parks and films that generated more than 2 billion dollars at the box office and are “heard” 24/7 worldwide by millions of people every year since 2010.
Teachers I have studied with were students (or student of the student) of Maurice Ravel, Paul Dukas, Leonard Bernstein and Olivier Messiaen.
My Hollywood orchestration mentors and godfathers Jeff Atmajian and Conrad Pope have worked for talented composers such as John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, John Debney, Howard Shore, Marc Shaiman, Gabriel Yared, Rachel Portman, Elmer Bernstein or Hans Zimmer to name a few… If these names don’t ring you a bell, you might have seen the movies they worked on like Star Wars, Matrix, Lord Of The Ring, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Sixth Sense, King Kong or even Groundhog Day 😉
Since 2010, I have had the pleasure to work with Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony or Cesar Award nominated or winning artists such as Philippe Rombi, Maurizio Malagnini, Amine Bouhafa, Eric Neveux, Valentin Hadjadj, Romain Trouillet, Gregoire Auger, Nicolas Errera, Christophe Julien, Rachel Portman, Jean Benoit Dunckel, Matthieu Gonet, Mathieu Lamboley, Erwann Chandon, Romain Allender or even Alan Menken for the Las Vegas Show “Le Rêve”.
In my free time, I write articles on my blog MASTER ORCHESTRATION dedicated to great musicians from past and present day to help your music sound better and avoid the writer’s block as much as possible 😉
I spend most of my time between Paris, London and Los Angeles. I am married to my lovely wife Jeanne Dorche who plays cello and viola da gamba and gives me “balance” in my Life.
